LaiLoMuzik is a loyal jazz listener. During highschool and college, she elevated her skills as a musician while a longtime member of the school’s Jazz bands. This is where reading sheet music, and playing instruments offered a different challenge than marching and concert band.

Over the years, long after college days, it was primarily jazz music that allowed her to escape the violence and anger that festered all around her environment.

She always wondered if other people in her ‘hood would learn to appreciate the serenity and calm Jazz provides, maybe they would calm down a bit, learn to involve themselves in self-reflection, and finally involve themselves in progressive activities. Wishful thinking.

Over the years, LaiLo began to merge her respect and appreciation for jazz with her lyrics. Cool Like That (2016 Nonprofit track), was one of the first Jazz track concepts recorded but was originally recorded in 2010. The initial concept (titled SootheMuzik) was put on hold when her producer/engineer’s label was indicted and he received a life sentence. Project stopped abruptly.

Next, a track titled “Forget About It” was created when the lyrics were written especially for that specific track. This track was recorded in Booker T.’s home studio in 2011. This was the first time Lai’Lo was able to make progress towards the project with the dedicated unwavering support of an industry-level professional engineer.

Ever since his death in 2014, LaiLo vowed to continue to develop and record the Jazz/Hip-Hop project they set out to create in 2011. It is 2024. It is time to release the blueprint until our team solidifies a professional audio team. Raw recordings straight from the home studio until then…
