Standing on The Edge went through a series of different recordings. This version was the best the team received from a Christian-based recording studio found in Indiana during the team’s independent tour.

Many so-called professional studios give LaiLoMuzik a hard time when she has to keep reiterating that she does not want her music to be recorded or mixed with “all the bells and whistles” that other artists/engineers use to “trick your ears”. Many only seem to care about getting through your speakers and into your head; eventually hypnotizing you into giving up your time and money. Lai’Lo’s goal has always been to speak to the soul.

Usually, projects end abruptly as conflict arises and tracks remain in THE VAULT until we have an opportunity to re-record the lyrics again.

This track was recorded in approximately 5 different states at multiple studios, on different instrumentals, as Lai’Lo and her team kept searching for the same (or similar) level of expertise that was lost when Booker T. passed away.

Each time, it was a true disappointment because the team usually discovered that these “pop up” studios have no idea what they’re doing and could not capture the essence of the track or the lyrics.

LaiLoMuzik was definitely “standing on the edge” when she first wrote this in 2015. Spiritual warfare was unsurmountable. It was the track, paper, and pen who seemed to be her only friend to talk to. She immediately began the writing process to redirect her away from extreme rage and sorrow; capturing the thoughts of that moment…with no profanity.
